e.l.f Cosmetics Lip Exfoliator (Review)

Now that winter is supposedly gone, I should be enjoying having less dry skin and cracked lips. At least is what I wish I could expect. But Texas weather says:Ha! No.“, so I have to take action now and then to combat that pesky dryness, especially for my lips.

I feel like I drink enough water not to have cracked lips. But I still get them somehow. That’s why I had to look for a way to get rid of them, because they make my lips look wrinkled and horrible if I wear matte lipstick on them while chapped. And thank goodness I found it for a super, affordable price.

I know this product is not new for most of y’all. And neither it is for me, because I‘ve been using it for a while now. And because of that and its great performance, I thought it deserved its own post here in my little space.

Meet the lips savior Lip Exfoliator by e.l.f. Cosmetics:

Is it just me or the minimalist packaging from e.l.f really is just desirable? It is what caught my attention while I was browsing the e.l.f. shelves at Target. And because it costs only $3 (even more attractive IMO), I decided to grab one and give it a try. Thank goodness I did, because I can’t live without it.

There are 6 “flavors” for this exfoliator: Coconut, Pink Grapefruit, Sweet Cherry, Mint Maniac, Rose and this one, listed as “Lip Exfoliator”, but will be named “Clear” here for easier reading (and typing for me, of course), because it’s the name given in the packaging.

The way to use this exfoliator is not exactly the way its lipstick shape may suggest. Y’all have to cut a chunky bit off of it and use it on your lips according to the directions on the back of the packaging.

What I do is cutting a chunky bit, apply it in circular and back and forth motions over my previously damped lips. This is done with enough pressure that allows you to feel y’all scrubbing the lips, without feeling y’all hurting them. I do this for about 3 or 4 minutes, then remove the remains of the exfoliator with a damped cloth.

The texture of this is completely like a body sugar scrub and feels exactly the same while in action. The only thing that could be bothering for some, is the perfume-y taste y’all feel when applying it. But it is sugary at the same time, so it is not a non-pleasant sensation, if that makes sense.

These are the results I love from using this exfoliator frequently when needed:

The results on the right are without using yet a lip balm, which helps to fade away any scar left from having cuts due dryness. And you can see all the dead skin is gone. Lips ready to get dry all over again for using liquid matte lipstick in a breeze.

I’d like to know if any of y’all reading this entry has ever used any of the other versions of this exfoliator. I have never tried any of them, so I don’t know if the formula is exactly the same than this one. What are your thoughts on them? Let me know in the comments about the e.l.f. exfoliators or just any other exfoliators y’all like!
