Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara – Influenster Custom VoxBox (Unboxing and Review)

I received my Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara compliments from Influenster for testing and review purposes. This post is my sole opinion.

Marc Jacobs has come with a new mascara that I’ve been using for the past couple of weeks since I received it in my VoxBox from Influenster. I have to say, I’m pretty happy with it.

My cute Custom VoxBox arrived damaged thanks to the delivery service. But the mascara was untouched

This Custom VoxBox came with a full sized tube of mascara (0.32 OZ.). The color, obviously, is called Noir. The pigmentation is nice enough to make eyelashes visible.

The complete content from my Custom VoxBox. Classy, isn’t it?

I was so glad when I read I was going to receive this product. First because I was hearing a lot about this mascara and secondly because, well it is a makeup item! And who doesn’t like FREE makeup? (yes, you read that right, this was completely for free in exchange of my experience using it).

Ok, so lets jump to the full review and pics:

I have this special type of eyes that usually come with little to no eyelashes. They’re called hooded eyes. They’re the type of eyes Asian have (Philippine type, although I don’t have Philippine background). Most Mexicans have the same shape of eyes as I do. Oh, and as if I wasn’t lucky enough, besides of having zero eyelashes, my eyelids are soggy. And oily (how lucky…).

← As you can see here in this pic to the side with the before (where I am not wearing any foundation or concealer at all and my lashes and hair are not done), you can hardly notice my eyelashes. It is almost like I have none. I am posting it in this size because I feel embarrassed on how bad I look without any makeup on around my eyes (sorry!).

I dislike using an eyelash curler. I will usually use a spoon to curl my lashes (it is an old trick Mexican women do, and no, it is not a joke I promise), but it requires a bit of work, which if I am in a hurry (which is almost all the time when doing my makeup) is of no use. So I’m always in the look for new mascaras that can save me the time by just applying a few coats. That and because I’m a makeup junkie.

wand

What I liked the most about this mascara is the wand. The shape is different from the mascaras I have. It looks similar to the wand from another mid-rage priced mascara from a popular brand (the one with palettes smelling like chocolate), but this one is a bit more slim than the one I am comparing it to. It prevents the product from clumping on both the eye lashes and the tube. The bristles brush the eyelashes and separates them pretty well.

So here’s me wearing Velvet Noir on my right eye and my left eye wearing regular, drugstore-type mascara. With my concealer and lots of CC cream and foundation (no eyeshadows though), of course:

Two coats of this mascara and voila! Instant, long lashes for good ol’ me. I’m definitely carrying this mascara in my purse for when I have to hit the road and I’m doing my makeup later.

It is not marked as waterproof, but it holds up against my oily lids very good. Oh, my lower lashes on the right eye are also wearing the mascara.

The retail price of Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara is $26. Not so expensive for being from a high end brand. Good choice if you’re already a Marc Jacobs fan or just shopping around for a new mascara.
